Rebecca is an artist whose work draws on nostalgia from natural subjects like flowers, mountains, colonial buildings, and seascapes, yet with a sharp, contemporary edge. She is currently exploring new themes, such as houses floating away due to climate change. Rebecca aims to create paintings that exhibit humanity through high-keyed colors and neutrals, highlighting the energy and complexities of our modern world.
Her work transitions between abstract and semi-landscapes, creating a fantastic tension, and she is known for her unusual color combinations. Her figure paintings and drawings allude to complex, sometimes haunting, sometimes intimate relationships, often in the style of the 17th or 18th century.
Rebecca graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, specializing in fashion illustration, and spent 22 years as a fashion art director. This background gave her a love of color and a strong design sensibility.
Having lived near Mount Washington in northern New Hampshire for many years, Rebecca now resides near Portsmouth, NH. The mountains inspired the sentimentality and lyrical style in her landscapes, along with Fauvism, which has greatly influenced her work. These elements have resulted in large, modern, and unique fine art paintings. Rebecca hopes to share the beauty of natural subjects, human connections, and vibrant colors with viewers through her work.
