Hollie Chastain is an accomplished mixed-media artist and illustrator based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. With a background in fine art and business, she first delved into marketing and graphic design before rekindling her passion for creating art. Hollie’s unique style primarily utilizes paper, blending found images with contemporary colors and compositions to craft pieces that are both striking and full of narrative. Her artistic vision is largely inspired by her deep reverence for printed materials and her appreciation for found ephemera.

Through her signature technique of creating on the covers of vintage, discarded books, Hollie gives new life to what others would consider to be mere trash. She skillfully incorporates the scribbles, stamps, and history found on these pages into her works, offering a fresh perspective on their significance. “I want my work to evoke a sense of accessibility and approachability, with a touch of nostalgia and whimsy,” says Hollie of her art.

Hollie’s work has been showcased in galleries across the United States, and she has been honored with several awards for her exceptional artistry. Besides her gallery work, she is also an accomplished illustrator, with her published book “If You Can Cut You Can Collage,” released by Quarto Publishing in November 2017.

Working from her cozy home studio, Hollie continues to explore the infinite possibilities of mixed media art, inspired by her love for salvaging and repurposing materials to create one-of-a-kind works that are both visually arresting and deeply meaningful.
