Carolyn, a Kentucky native now based in Austin, Texas, is a multi-talented artist known for her work in printmaking, painting, knitting, and gardening. She earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2003 and an MA in printmaking from the University of Louisville in 2008. Carolyn has exhibited extensively throughout Texas, regularly participating in the East Austin Studio Tour and West Austin Studio Tour. She is also an active member of the Women Printmakers of Austin.
Her fine art is characterized by dreamy, layered landscapes that capture the history and memory of a place, while her bold, graphic woodcuts are inspired by rediscovering familiar foods during her travels. Carolyn describes her work as exploring “the intersection between the natural and the man-made,” focusing on how we shape the land and how the land shapes us.
In addition to her fine art, Carolyn runs Kimball Prints, an online store featuring modern home decor inspired by nature’s beauty. Her work is part of the permanent collection at the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts and is held in private collections across the United States, England, and Kuwait. Carolyn’s dedication to her craft and her unique vision continue to inspire and captivate.
