The Rochester Museum of Fine Arts (RMFA) is pleased to announce a slate of upcoming exhibitions, featuring a diverse group of contemporary artists whose work explores memory, identity, landscape, abstraction, and material experimentation. Opening this fall and continuing into 2027, the exhibitions will introduce visitors to both emerging and established artists working across a wide range of media.
The season begins in September with “You’ve Been Here,” a solo exhibition by Stacey Durand, opening Sept. 7 in the Carnegie Gallery at the Rochester Public Library. Durand’s work invites viewers to consider the subtle ways memory, place, and lived experience shape our understanding of the world, creating paintings that feel at once familiar and quietly mysterious. The exhibition will remain on view through Dec. 4.
Also, on Sept. 7, the Bernier Room at the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center will feature “Titanic,” a solo exhibition by Paige Speight. Known for transforming everyday materials into playful and thought-provoking sculptures and installations, Speight’s work examines the relationships between objects, consumption, and the natural world with humor and curiosity. The exhibition continues through Nov. 6.
Beginning Nov. 9, the Bernier Room will feature a solo exhibition by Peter Sandback, whose photographic practice is informed by decades of experience as a master furniture maker. Inspired by natural history museums, Sandback combines double-exposure photography, translucent materials, silver leaf, and handcrafted frames to create luminous works that explore illusion, memory, and the relationship between object and display.
Later this year, the museum will present “A Series of Works” by John M. Andrews, opening Dec. 7 in the Carnegie Gallery. Andrews is recognized for richly layered paintings that balance abstraction and representation, inviting viewers to slow down and discover new details with each encounter.
The 2027 exhibition season opens with “Selected Works” by Drew DiPasquale, beginning Feb. 8 in the Bernier Room. A Portsmouth-based painter, DiPasquale creates expressive abstract works that emerge through experimentation, intuition, and a continual dialogue between memory and material. His paintings embrace both spontaneity and structure, resulting in compositions that are energetic and deeply personal.
Opening March 8, the Carnegie Gallery will feature “Marble Track” by Keri Kimura. Kimura’s multidisciplinary practice combines sculpture, installation, and playful systems of movement to investigate ideas of chance, interaction, and the physical properties of materials, encouraging visitors to experience art through exploration and discovery.
