December 23, 2022

The Rochester Museum of Fine Arts is pleased to exhibit a selection of works by Laura Harper Lake, in the Mayor Harvey E. Bernier Room, in Suite 135 of the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center. The exhibition will be on view from January 9, 2023, to March 3, 2023. A reception will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2022 from 1pm-4pm. The public is encouraged to attend.

Laura Harper Lake is an interdisciplinary artist and designer who works under the moniker Artful Harper Studios at the Exeter Stations Studios in Exeter, New Hampshire. She has been creatively driven her whole life and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art from Chester College of New England in 2007.

Laura has exhibited her work in various galleries throughout New England and in virtual publications. In addition to making art, Laura co-hosts a weekly podcast Creative Guts, which is also a nonprofit, that interviews creatives from all disciplines and explores the heart of creativity in New Hampshire and beyond. Harper Lake resides in Epping, NH with her husband.

According to Lake, “in painting figures of varying sizes and shapes, and by accepting myself as I am, I aspire to be countercultural and rebel against our society’s ideologies of beauty.”

The RMFA is located within the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center at 150 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH, behind Spaulding High School. Suite 135 is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. Visit www.rochestermfa.org to learn more.
