Susan Schwake is a talented artist, art educator, and author based in New Hampshire. Her artwork is heavily inspired by the natural world and the changes it undergoes. Susan explains, “I often abstract these interactions through simplification, distortion, heightened or changed color, and viewpoint.” She works with various mediums such as ink, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and paper on paper, panel, and canvas. Her artwork has been showcased in various exhibitions across the East Coast of the US, Mexico, and Europe.
In addition to her art practice, Susan is also a co-owner and art teacher at Artstream Studios, where she has been teaching and inspiring children and adults for over 25 years. She has written six books on making art with children and has a seventh one set to be published early next year. Susan is dedicated to her craft and spends most of her days painting and drawing. Her love for art and education has made her a prominent figure in the art community, both locally and globally.
