Spenser Macleod is a Portland-based artist with a passion for creating visually captivating works of art. Born and raised in Maine, Spenser has always had an interest in art, and this led him to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Maine College of Art.
Spenser’s work is heavily influenced by vintage pop culture and advertising. He enjoys the vibrant colors, juxtaposed shapes, characters, and typography of the past, and he uses these elements to engage with his audience in a fresh and exciting way. As Spenser explains, “My work is heavily inspired by an array of vintage pop culture and advertisement. I enjoy the vibrant colors, juxtaposed shapes, characters, and typography of the past and use it in my own work to enthusiastically engage with my audience in regards to today’s culture and influences.”
Spenser’s art can be seen all over New England, from murals on the sides of buildings to commissioned designs and illustrative works for various clients. Despite his success, Spenser remains grounded, living with his fiancé and daughter in Portland, Maine. He is a true testament to the fact that hard work and dedication can lead to success in the arts.
