Daryl-Ann Dartt Hurst was a highly accomplished artist, known for her captivating paintings that evoke emotion and spark the imagination. Born and raised in Palmdale, California, she earned her BA in Art from California State University, Northridge, and completed a year of post-graduate work there. In 1986, she relocated to New England, where her work continued to flourish.
Exhibiting her work since 1978, Daryl-Ann participated in numerous group shows across the United States and held many solo exhibits in prestigious galleries throughout New England. Her exhibitions included cities such as Boston, Portsmouth, Lincoln, Littleton, Rochester, Rollinsford, Saint Johnsbury, and Somersworth. Her exceptional talent was recognized by institutions like the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts, which included her work in its permanent collection. Additionally, she received the Artistic Achievement in the Visual Arts award from the City of Rochester Commission for Arts and Culture.
Daryl-Ann’s art was a reflection of her innermost thoughts and feelings, aiming to evoke emotion and inspire others through a variety of techniques and mediums. Her contributions to the art world were also acknowledged with a nomination for Outstanding Painter, Non-Traditional in the Seacoast Spotlight Awards in 2015.
Sadly, Daryl-Ann Dartt Hurst passed away on November 16, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer. Her contributions to the art world endure, and her work continues to inspire and move viewers.
