Cindy Rizza is a talented, award-winning artist who was born and raised in Maine. She attended the New Hampshire Institute of Art, where she earned her BFA and honed her skills as a representational oil painter. Cindy’s work focuses on everyday objects and domestic comforts that evoke strong emotions, including nostalgia, comfort, loneliness, and foreboding. Her unique and nostalgic approach to her subjects has garnered her a devoted following, and her work has been collected internationally.

Reflecting on her artistic practice, Cindy explains, “My work quietly examines familiar domestic comforts and the objects that we use to feel secure. In examining the unique identities of heirloom textiles and childhood nostalgia my work summons conflicting feelings of comfort and loneliness, hope and foreboding, and of life and loss. I aim to expose the contradictions within the subjects- to honor the comfort and love they bore, but unfold the truths of what we are fearful of in the darkness.”

Cindy has been the recipient of numerous art awards, including the NH Spotlight Award for Outstanding Representational Artist and The Vermont Studio Center Artist Grant. Her work has been featured in exhibitions throughout the world, and her paintings continue to captivate and move viewers. Cindy currently lives and works in Southern New Hampshire, where she creates her evocative and thought-provoking pieces.
