The Rochester Museum of Fine Arts is pleased to announce “Borrowed Time”, an art exhibition featuring works by Kate Knox in the Carnegie Gallery at the Rochester Public Library, starting May 3, 2025.
Kate Knox earned her BFA in painting and printmaking from the NH Institute of Art in 2015, summa cum laude. After being awarded the Piscataqua Regional Artist Advancement Grant in 2021, Knox was invited to rebuild the printmaking program at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, where she currently teaches. When not at UNH, Kate works out of her barn-turned-printmaking-studio in Dover, NH.
“I have driven countless backroad miles in search of skeletal barns, burnt-out houses, any splintered ruins will do. A dilapidated treasure hunt, maybe, or an archaeological drive – no digging necessary,” said Knox. “I often think about how we misinterpret the past to make excuses for the present. I’m also thinking about the many definitions of the words abandon and save.”
The works included in the exhibition are carved, printed, manipulated into surreal structures (sometimes grandiose, mostly delusional), and preserved in beeswax.
“Borrowed Time” will be on display until September 5, 2025. The Rochester Public Library is located at 65 South Main Street, Rochester, NH 03867. Visit www.kate-knox.com and www.rochestermfa.org to learn more.
The museum gratefully acknowledges the generous support of its corporate sponsors, community partners, and collaborators, including the City of Rochester, Meredith Village Savings Bank, Bernier Insurance, Back Hill Beer Co., Creative Guts Podcast, and the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.
