Josh Baptista, a Boston native, discovered his passion for art at an early age, eventually earning his Bachelor of Fine Art from Montserrat College of Art in 2002. Building on this foundation, he further honed his artistic skills by obtaining a Master’s of Fine Art from American University in Washington D.C., graduating in 2009.
As a predominantly painter, Josh Baptista’s work extends beyond traditional boundaries as he skillfully incorporates various media to construct a parallel universe populated by peculiar, elusive, and charmingly curious creatures. Rooted in his experiences within the 90’s skateboarding and street art scenes in New England, Josh’s artistic expression resonates with a hesher mindset. However, he infuses his creations with a discerning wit and sharpness that unveils the beauty inherent in life’s eccentricities.
Currently residing and creating in Providence, R.I., Josh Baptista continues to explore and push the boundaries of his artistic vision. His work reflects a unique blend of influences, seamlessly merging his roots with a contemporary perspective.
